Chelsea Flower Show Tour 2005
May 22-30, 2005
May 24, Our leisure day
It goes without saying that they had no trouble at all finding things to do
in London! Two of my guests and I enjoyed Harrods, the National Trust shop
(where you can buy all kinds of things and help support them by doing so)
Claridge's for a most delightful champagne Afternoon Tea
http://www.claridges.co.uk/claridges/ If you get the chance to
experience Tea here, I know you will enjoy it. The service is excellent with
attention to detail ... a lovely way to de-stress your day! The hotel has a
wonderful history. I hope you will read about it. Then it was off to the
Royal Geographical Society to hear Christopher Lloyd and his head gardener
Fergus Garrett speak on their latest book
http://www.greatdixter.co.uk/succession.html which we now all have in
our possession a signed copy. It was wonderful to listen to the two of them
and Christopher certainly has not lost any of his humour and zest for
gardening. The pictures of them both are rather dark, but you can still see
them. It was put on by Gardens Illustrated Magazine, which is one of the
best! On our way over we walked through Hyde Park and the rose garden plus
there are some other shots there of things I happen to see as I went along.
